We’ve been pretty busy since we last spoke.
The PaNNTOA Rendezvous was fantastic, as always. It t takes a lot of planning but is always worth the effort. We caught up with old friends, met new members, and enjoyed a weekend filled with great seminars, lots of food, stories, and laughter. It’s hard to ask for more than that.

No sooner had the rendezvous wrapped up —our kids and grandkids came for a visit!

We packed quite a bit into their stay. We hunted for treasures at the sea glass beach in Sidney, took in the incredible views from the Malahat SkyWalk, and spent a day at Tod Inlet. They cooled off with a swim in Lake Thetis and even managed a little hiking along the way. If you are in the part of the world ever, you have to go to Butchart gardens and to the Malahat Skywalk!

Judd and I both had mishaps on the slide at the Malahat Skywalk. He recovered pretty quickly, I am still nursing my wounds!

Of course, we couldn’t let them visit without spending some time on the ocean! We headed over to Montague Harbour, dropped the anchor, and took a short hike ashore. The weather cooperated, the scenery was beautiful..ah! this is what we signed up for!

As always, their visit went by way too fast. After they left, we asked everyone what their favorite day had been. The unanimous winner was the day we spent boating. That answer made us smile. We may be a little biased, but we thought it was pretty special too.
I went to the Victoria Mahjong Club social – what a fun time that is. I am hoping to get a mahjong club going when I get home.

Our next visitor arrives in July, so for now we’re doing exactly what we came here to do—putzing around, enjoying the long summer days, and relaxing. No big plans, no tight schedules, just moving when we feel like it and soaking up this beautiful corner of the world.

We decided to head out for 5 days, we had plenty of provisions, so we opted to head over to the San Juans and use our state park pass. One of our friends happened to be on Sucia at Fossil bay so we went and joined him for a night. We had never been to Fossil Bay on Sucia, it quickly turned into one of our favorites. I can’t wait to bring the kids there when they visit.

The tide is very low (a minus tide and it is already shallow in Fossil Bay), so we got up early and headed out, we managed to grab a mooring ball at Pathos. We’ll need to get some water and a pump out, so that will probably dictate where we go next.

I did find out that puffins nest on Smith Island (on the way to Port Townsend) so I would like to head that way soon. It is a restricted area, but I imagine the birds don’t stay within the restricted zone only 😛
The only other company we are expecting is my Aunt and Uncle but we haven’t heard when yet.
So far, not a bad way to spend the summer.
Talk Soon.
