We’re home!

Vancouver Island

I promised to drop a note when we arrived to our new permanent home: Anglers Anchorage Marina in Brentwood Bay BC. We pulled in about 10:30 am. Our friend Paul was there to catch our lines. The manager Zac was on hand to greet us as well. We yakked for a bit. It’s his mom’s birthday today and we are meeting up for Thirsty Thursday at Category XII later.

We left Montague Harbor around 7 am. That’s kind of late for us, but we didn’t have far to go today. Smooth seas and not a whisper of wind. Our kind of cruising.

We saw a ton of people tent camping along Beaver Point on Salt Spring Island. I had to look it up. Maybe scouts camping? Nope, just a very popular provincial Park. Ruckles. It looked like a lot of fun.

A portion of our route had heavy ferry traffic and we were pretty busy looking out for them and dodging their wakes. The only wildlife we saw today was 2 seals, a harbor porpoise, and lots of moon jellies in our marina. Someone told me they are bioluminescent, I need to remember to get up and check it out one of these nights. Not right now because the moon is pretty full and bright. I guess it’s best to look during a new moon.

Our loose plan right now is to come and stay in our slip a few days, do chores, physically go to church on Sundays and then head out during the week. We have a Nordic Tug Rendezvous at Ganges Marina September 12-14th. After which we will button up the boat and head home. Sophie is getting married!

We have some good looking neighbors – Paul and Elaine Bulk – oh and Crown Prince looks pretty sharp too.

So, this blog will slow down a bit. Maybe a post or two a week.

Talk Soon.
