Pruth Bay to Ocean Falls

Flotilla

We left at 7 am this morning, again in the pouring rain. It wasn’t too bad, so we ran from upstairs.

Our intrepid leaders, Mike Beemer and Clifton Cates on Black Pearl

We had some GIGANTIC swells coming from the ocean when we got out of the anchorage area, but they were spaced pretty far apart and following, so very tolerable!

Urban Cowboy – Dan and Valerie Withers – so glad to have met them!

We did see some whales and one fuzzy sea otter. And lots of flotsam and jetsam. You have to keep a sharp eye out for logs and debris.

Cerise – Rocky and Tracy Gamble – they are such a nice couple!

Did you watch that Alison & James Ocean Falls video yet? Pretty fascinating.

The group took a walk up to the top of the falls. I was still working on my potluck dish, so we headed out soon after and actually met up with the group at the dam. There were 3 stores with open signs. A gift shop, a bakery, and an ice cream shop. I was most interested in the ice cream shop, but even though the sign said open the door was locked. Bummer!

You can wander all around the abandoned buildings if you would like. There are some gorgeous flowers in bloom here. Lots of foxglove, salmon berries, irises, daisies, and lots more that I wish I knew the name!

We are having our potluck in “The Shack”.

We headed back to finish our dish for the potluck – it is an experiment. I took some sourdough bread dough and wrapped it around some chicken sausages for “pigs in the blanket”. I think they actually turned out pretty good. (not excellent, and I know why. I’d tell you, but it is even making my eyes glaze over)

This area at Ocean Falls is STUNNING. The camera just can’t capture it, but photos posted anyways.

We were going to top off our tanks, but we have a boil order, so we’ll probably pass on that. Our next stop is at a marina, as well, so we can top off then (or make some water!) This is some super fresh water coming from a lake up top.

Eva, the wharfinger, made us some fresh homemade cinnamon buns that were absolutely FANTASTIC. What a great start to the morning.

Headed out soon for Shearwater. Some folks are taking a skinny passage called “Gunboat.” Jim and I are going to go the longer way around. It adds 10 miles, but today is a short cruise day today anyways!

Talk Soon.
