The electrician arrived and found the disconnected wire literally in the first minute. Yay! We have our tank monitors again. The autopilot on the flybridge took a bit more noodling, but he finally got it figured out. Raymarine is like Apple and they don’t play nice with others. We watched a seminar the other day, and the moderator said he would never buy Raymarine again, they have too much proprietary stuff. We are learning that firsthand. Anyways, ever grateful that an expert would come and bail us out.
We had a fantastic time with John and Julie on taco night. John is kindly watching our vehicle until we return in June. We’ll keep it in a lot here (lots of folks do that) but just in case they need the lot cleared, he has a key and will move it for us.
We’re tracking that blow that is coming through and we think the earliest we will be able to leave is Wednesday. That gives us 5 days. I think the most pressing is the davit installation. Everything else can wait until we are in Canada. I guess they have stores there too 😛 Especially, the hardware variety as that is our go-to of late.
We have lots of stuff coming this week from Amazon. We try to send most of it to the Amazon locker here. The marina office only accepts Fed Ex and UPS packages for guests. Sometimes UPS hands off to USPS and the marina won’t accept the item and it gets sent back. Grr. We are getting our fishing gear in order, as we are soon going to start honing those skills. Jim also bought me a drone and an Insta360 (type of go pro) camera for my birthday, those are arriving too. He actually wanted to buy me some of those new Rayban Meta glasses, and while that would have been super cool, because of my prescription,, super expensive, so I thought we would be better served with the drone and the camera – plus the smart glasses are in their infancy. We got some landing gear for the drone just in case. (AND the insurance!)
(those are the floats, but we chose a dji 3)
The diver stopped by and changed out our zincs and inspected the bottom. He said everything is looking good and we should be good to go until our haul-out in October. We should be able to replace those ourselves next time.
Hopefully, we can get the davit project finished up soon so Jim isn’t blown off the swim step!
Since we had our boat in a semblance of order for John and Julie’s visit, we invited Wayne and Angie, our slip mates, over for a tour and some tea and cookies last night. We whiled away the evening and before we knew it, it was boater’s midnight. (9 pm). Angie is an early bird like us and goes to bed at 8:30, so it was waaay past her bedtime!
Battoning down the hatches.
