What? There are TWO Fickle Figs?

Yesterday we went to the church that was close by. It was a Pentecostal church and I have never been. I think the closest has been Assemblies of God. It was just on the edge of Jim’s comfort zone and I’m Pentecostal! Who knew?!

After, we decided to take our friend Julie’s recommendation and go to the Fickle Fig. It is waaayyy in the middle of nowhere! Beautiful day, beautiful walk. We end up at the north border of the Victoria International Airport. We keep wondering how in the world John and Julie ended up way out here? Haha. Come to find out that there are two Fickle Figs. One is next to the Surly Mermaid, in town. The other, a bit out of town. We’ll have to try the other one in June.

We are the blue dot above the airport. – Bunnies everywhere! – My green for the day

We walked to the grocery store and bought dinner supplies. There were a lot of bunnies and SO close to the trail! Laden with supplies, we took the bus home and enjoyed the remainder of the sunny afternoon on the flybridge. Missoula had the same lovely weather, so you can relate.

This week here is going fast! We are leaving Wednesday morning. (It is supposed to rain, of course) We researched where we’re going next, how we’ll get there, what the tides will be, and what time we will leave. Next stop, Tod Inlet. Our Canadian friend, Paul, recommended it. It is right next to Butchart Gardens, so I am going to get a season pass. Then the beginning of April we are going to explore the Gulf Islands until June.

It’s a 21-minute drive from here to Tod Inlet. It will take us 2 hours by boat.

Pro tip: When you get on the bus with a paper ticket, you feed it into the machine. (haha, the bus driver does not want you to hand it to him). If you want a day pass, you can pay two tickets. I’m not clear on that process, I’ll have to ask the driver, as I think we’re going to get day passes today. When you exit the bus, thank the driver.

Jim is going to service the windlass today and then we are going to hop on a bus and go to Costco in Victoria. Pro tip: In Canada they only accept MasterCard. In the US: only Visa. Also, it’s a good thing we are hoofing it, we won’t go over our limit.

We haven’t decided if we are going to have a Costco delivery or Thrifty Foods delivery before we go. Since we are going to be on the hook for a while, and it is going to be raining, I’m leaning toward the Costco delivery. We have an electric cooler that is sitting empty right now, if needed.

Beautiful sunrise, time to get on with the day.

Talk Soon.
