Well, we’ve done it. The trek south is officially complete. We left June 16th, 2024 from Montague Harbor headed up to Alaska with the Waggoner Flotilla with our intrepid leader Mike Beemer. There were 8 boats totals and we made lifelong friends. I would never trade that experience for the world!

We started back south on our own with A LOT of trepidation. The trip seemed so daunting by ourselves. We did stop at a few new places but pretty much followed the itinerary up in reverse. As each leg was tucked under our belt, we grew in our confidence. We even voluntarily stayed in marinas! Look at us one year later! So grown up.

We were SO close and then disaster struck. (if you need catching up, read the last post). We were towed in on Sunday. Monday was a holiday so we figured the earliest we could do anything was Tuesday. We were shocked to not only find a parts store open on Monday but they actually had the part! It fit like a glove and Jim had the repair done in 30 minutes! He spent the next day cleaning.

Since we were in Nanaimo, we went through Dodd’s Narrows (pure mayhem!) instead of Gabriola passage as we had previously planned. Also, we had not planned the stop at Montague, but this feels right. Complete.

We’re up and at em early tomorrow to our new marina: Anglers Anchorage Marina in Brentwood Bay. I’ll let you know how that goes.
Talk Soon.
Congratulations and welcome home!
