Well, that’s a wrap!

Italy 2025

Imagine my surprise when I logged into WordPress this morning to start telling you about our current adventures and find this unposted. Whoopsie.

What a fantastic final week! It was filled with scenic drives, a quick trip to Switzerland and back, a little souvenir shopping, and a whole lot of packing… and repacking.

Remember how we each brought just a carry-on and a backpack? It was always the plan to buy a cheap piece of luggage and stuff it full of souvenirs. In the end, a few less-than-loved pieces of clothing were sacrificed to make room—but it was totally worth it.

Now, about that Switzerland trip. We drove to Tirano, Italy, and stayed the night in the most charming little Vrbo. The next morning, we boarded the Bernina Express and made our way to St. Moritz, Switzerland. I had no idea any of this even existed! I asked ChatGPT for suggestions on a quick trip to Switzerland or Austria, and wow—what an incredible experience. I honestly can’t recommend it highly enough!

We ended up heading to Rome a day earlier than planned to squeeze in some serious last-minute souvenir shopping. It felt unbelievable to think we only had a matter of hours left.

Our flight was at 6:30 a.m., so the goal was to be at the airport by 4:30. We made the brilliant decision to stay at the Hilton in Rome, which is connected directly to the airport. Best. Decision. Ever.

The journey home? Brutal. Twenty hours of travel. I have a hard time sitting still that long—though I’m sure I’m not the only one!

I tempted the travel gods and said out loud – “Ninety days and I didn’t manage to lose a thing.” Famous last words. I left my kindle on the plane in Salt Lake. Drats.

But we made it, and were welcomed at the gate with a giant “Welcome Home Grandma Debbie and Papa Jim” sign, lovingly decorated by two enthusiastic, handsome cuties just for the occasion.

It truly was the trip of a lifetime. And as always—it’s good to be home.

Wow! I didn’t realize that St. Moritz was so close to Bolzano! 90 Days?! Incredible! I’m spent in 3 weeks on-the-road! Glad that you were able to pull it off as safely as you managed too. Hope the Clav is in good repair.
