Van Isle, Victoria and noVacks

I thought that title was whitty. Jim doesn’t. My sister’s last name is Novack.. get it??

Well that was only one trip to the hardware store for the said project! Nice. While Jim contorted his body into inhumane positions in the lazarette, I took advantage of the laundry facilities. Six loads and $37 CND.

We thought the discharge pump gave up the ghost. And perhaps that was the case, but Jim found someone had flushed one of those heavy-duty shop paper towels. What in the French Toast?? We’re sure it wasn’t any of our guests (well, we did have 2 little guests but they didn’t have access to shop towels 😛 We will spare you the gory details, but all fixed!

It was a great day to do chores as it rained all day. Hopefully all these showers will keep fires at bay. Last season was a brutal fire season for Canada. Remember? The smoke moved into Montana last Spring and we couldn’t believe it.

We had a phone meeting with Jeff and Deatte last night to firm up details for their visit. They are coming June 3 – 9. Exciting!

It is supposed to be windy Friday so not a good day to take my sister and family out on the boat, so instead we took the bus into Victoria and met up and we all went to Butchart. It was a glorious day. We had a lot of fun hanging out. We took them to Tod Inlet to show them where we anchored for a few weeks.

After, they came to check out the boat. I took the girls for a dinghy ride. It was my first time operating the dinghy myself. Good thing it wasn’t an emergency and Jim wasn’t passed out, because it took me several attempts to dock the boat. We putzed around Tsehum Harbour and the marina. They headed off soon after.

It was a beautiful sunny evening and we tried to hang out on the flybridge but the wind had such a bite. We gave up and went down and made dinner. We’re going to shop for fishing supplies this morning and then head out. The wind is unfavorable in Lyall Harbor, so we are going to head to Bedwell instead. Winds are supposed to die down by Tuesday.

It’s starting to shape up to be another glorious day. Brilliant blue and not a cloud in the sky.

Talk Soon.
