It started out sunny and then turned mostly cloudy a bit later. After our cappuccinos, we set out to find the ladies that make fresh pasta in Bari Vecchia. The street wasn’t hard to find. Here is a link if you are interested.

Fresh pasta tucked safely in our pack, we set out to find a bus to hop on for a round trip. We settled on the 27. We are happy we did, it went by another waterfront that we weren’t aware of. It is windy today and the waves are coming in fast and furious. We plan on making a round trip and then getting off and exploring that area.

You know the saying about the best laid plans of mice and men… (they often go awry.. ) a couple stops later and an entire high school crammed their way onto our bus. There was no way we were fighting our way through that crowd so we could get off. We were also shocked how long it took us to complete the entire route. It did take us right by the outdoor market. When my sister gets here, we’ll hop on that bus and take them out there.

After our circumnavigation, we went to a local favorite “El Pedro”. It is cafeteria style. Grab a tray, a paper liner, silverware, choose some dishes as you walk along and then pay at the end. It was strange, after they dish you up, they cover it with plastic wrap. (Italian law?) Take a seat and enjoy. It was 8 euro each and both of us had some great homemade food with quality local ingredients.

It turned windy and chilly while we were having lunch, so we walked to the central bus station, took a gander at the bus numbers and chose one we hadn’t been on. Number 71 took us out to an industrial area, a mall, and residential areas where most of the bus disembarked. Some dummies in the back were vaping the whole time and Jim got nauseous. It hung around for hours. Usually I’m the one who is the complainer anytime there is anything besides good fresh, clean air.

After our tour, we shopped for dinner supplies and headed home. A thousand short of 10k steps. That’s okay. I’m sure we’ll more than make up for it tomorrow. We’re headed to the white city: Ostuni.

Yay! Our clothes are dry, we fold and put them away. Refresh the line with damp clothes from the wash. I did tell you we only brought 3 sets of clothing each, right? It is working out just fine!

Time to get our train tickets for tomorrow and make some dinner.
