Jim left his phone on the bus yesterday. He NEVER loses things, so it was quite distressing. I, on the other hand, would lose my head if not attached. You have to wait 48 hours for it to be found and processed at the BC Transit. They are open M-F. We’ll call on Monday and see if anyone turned it in. We came back to the boat and logged him out of everything. I have been pushing for us to have one phone for a while now. Maybe this will be the impetus for that to happen if it doesn’t show up. Oh, the wailing and gnashing of teeth trying to remember all the passwords! We will probably get him a burner phone if it doesn’t show up.
The bummer is, the anchor alarm is set on my phone, and it can’t leave the boat. I’ll have to find a solution using the laptop or iPad.
Chores today, so we can take advantage of the days with sunshine when we have it!
I woke up last night to the sound of chain paying out on the windlass. Not what you want when you are anchored and it’s the middle of the night. I woke Jim up, he agreed the sound was odd and went out on the bow and checked things out. Everything was fine. We do have a snubber on the windlass, so it should be impossible for more chain to come out anyways. But can’t hurt to check. We aren’t sure what the noise was, but it was unnerving.
It is POURING rain today. It’s nice to be all snug and warm in our little floating home. I love the pitter-patter of the rain. I’m washing a pair of Jim’s jeans and the next load will be tees and unders and maybe one shirt if it fits. My dress was completely dry after running the dehumidifier, so this is a game changer folks. We’ll only have to wash large items at marinas. On our flotilla, we won’t have to compete with 7 other boats at every marina for the washing machines.
So you don’t have to squint while trying to read the photo below: the big green area is Butchart Gardens – 55 acres of Gardens, 900 varieties of plants, 26 Greenhouses, 50 Gardeners. The big yellow area is the bus stop. The blue line is the path we take to the bus stop, the red square is where we are anchored. There is a large bus stop inside the gardens, but you have to pay to go inside. Luckily there is also a stop outside of the gardens.
We have been super frustrated trying to purchase something on Amazon and send it to a locker to pick up. Come to find out, you have to sign in to the CANADIAN Amazon (at amazon.ca). Geez! Our prime is associated with the .com account not the .ca. We tried a 30-day free trial. I just have to (remember to) cancel it in time. Jim is going to install the solar next and needs some bits and bobs. We can pick up our stuff on Monday in Victoria. We need to swing by the BC Transit lost and found that day, so it all works out. Hopefully, someone wants to take me to Murchie’s for a cuppa and a lardy cake. (when we lived in England we were gobsmacked that a sweet bun would be called a lardy cake. Boy howdy, was it GOOD though! Do you remember that, Milissa?)
Well, there IS a Project Atticus in the queue this morning, so time to have some breakfast and get on with our day.
Talk Soon.
