It was a beautiful cruise with very little wind. The flotilla had the option to either traverse Gunboat Passage or take another route that would add 10 miles. Half the group went one way, the other half the other.
We were of the taking the long way mindset until I heard from my friend, Jill, who has an enormous DeFever. She said that it looks scary on paper, but really it isn’t. We thought, well okay then. So we headed with the Gunboat Passage group. There were only a couple of spots that needed very close attention otherwise it was a smooth beautiful passage. Thanks, Jill!
We docked up, went shopping, and availed ourselves of the showers. Our group is having dinner at the pub. This is our last marina until Prince Rupert.
Tomorrow is a long day, 58 nm. We are leaving at 6 am. We also are taking a 4-mile side trip to Kynoch Falls. The falls are deep and you can get very close to them, so we each will get a photo in front of them. Mike has a proper camera and takes fantastic photos. We need to take his photo. I hope out of the 7 of us, he gets one good picture 😛
We are saving one of our weather days for Dixon Entrance. If we don’t end up using it, we will take another bonus side trip.
How crazy is this? We only have 5 more nights in Canada and then we clear customs into Alaska. We have 12 more days to go with our flotilla. I’m sad it is going so fast. I really do love this buddy boating business. It is so nice to show up to a dock and there are lots of hands to help you out, friends to have dinner or a drink with and swap stories of the adventures of the day.
Remember Debra Lynn from Port McNeill? They emailed me and said that they are already in Ketchikan! Wow! Although, they did have a super fast boat and do this trip every year. I’m sure they are anxious to get to fishing! We’ll have to meet up for a drink when we get home and swap some stories and photos!
