While we enjoyed our time in Meyers Chuck, we decided next time we are in the area we would like to find a different anchorage, if possible. And maybe we might change our mind. We have our tracks both in and out and know about where we anchored, so we shouldn’t have so much difficulty next time. Mike suggested Thorne Bay.
The sticky bun lady was prompt (and they were as delicious as advertised); we pulled out at 7:30. Black Pearl took the lead, it was a negative 2.3 foot tide and the exit was skinny. You could also see how the green buoy does not mark the entrance. Follow the instructions in the Waggoner’s Guide and you should be fine. The postmistress told us to hug the light on our way out. (the left on the way out). We all made it out fine and boy howdy was it sporty !! in Clarence Strait.
Once we were out of the strait, things calmed down and the scenery became spectacular! We even had 3 Dall’s porpoises swim with us for a bit. Such a treat!
Zimovia Strait was windy (pronounce this with a long i ) and oh so picturesque. I am looking forward seeing that again on our way back.
Some of the group went out for dinner, the rest decided to eat at home. We were in the latter group. We are coming back here for a couple of days and will explore then. Ray came over and played cards. We had a fun, relaxing evening.
Supposed to be 75 and sunny in Petersburg! And, of course, rain when Sophie visits. We’ll make sure she has a good time anyways.
Talk Soon.
