It was a 6 hour cruise from Sullivan Bay to Lagoon Cove. It was another glorious cruise. Smooth Seas, sparkling sun, light breeze. We saw 4 whales, a very frisky dolphin, a river otter, and two harbor porpoises. Two of the whales were right out of Lagoon Cove by the blow hole!

We had SUCH a great time at the happy hour at Sullivan bay. About 10 folks showed up and so it was more intimate and a lot of great conversation. We hung out for two hours and then disbanded. We were shocked to find out that the friendliest down to earth couple were the ones on the 90 foot yacht at the head of the dock! When Jim said that was them, I had to go down to the end of the dock and verify it. Yep. So nice to meet all of them, hope our paths cross again! We also really enjoyed hanging out with a fellow Nordic Tugger – “Queen of Scotts II” Byron and Lynette. The managers came down and had drinks with us too. They were super nice. Highly recommend!

Lagoon Cove has the same type deal but on a MUCH larger scale! They provide prawns for the boaters and the boaters go ALL OUT with their sides! We had such a great array of dishes, it was amazing. We met a lot of really nice folks there and enjoyed swapping tales. This is one of the most popular destinations in this area; we did not have reservations so are on the overflow dock. It is a short hike (easy) to the marina. No power though, so we had to run our generator.

When we docked there was a gal on the dock talking to our neighbor, she said she had to go over and introduce herself to us because get this, they are from Hamilton, Montana!! They own property around here and come every summer. I gave her a boat card and we are going to get together this winter.

Today we are headed to Blind Bay. We timed Whirlpool Rapids, and Greene Point Rapids, so we have that in our back pocket, but if Johnstone Strait behaves well today, we are just going to go that route. We have not been that way. I have heard horror stories though, so hope I am not regaling you with such tales tomorrow.

We are trapped in Lagoon Cove by Chatham Channel, which runs at 5 knots. We need to leave a little closer to slack. (8:32 am) We are going to pull out of here at 7:15, go the long way around and should arrive about 1/2 hour before. We like to take advantage of light winds in the morning, so are bummed by this delay. But there is no other way around.
Talk Soon.
So beautiful and who would have thought boating would be such a fun social adventure.
