The Trek South - Inside Passage 2025

Wow was it ever nice in “rainy” Rupert! The sun shone the whole time we were there! We had wood fired pizza at the Wheelhouse Brewery. It was so, so good! – highly recommend! We sat out in the sunshine on the deck and enjoyed the gorgeous afternoon with waterfront seats. Both Jim and I forgot our phones at the boat, so you’ll just have to use your imagination 🙂 My pizza toppings were prosciutto, burrata, arugula and a hot honey. Wow. I heard someone say that this was the first summer day that they have had there this year. We should buy lottery tickets.

We left bright and early in some fog, although visibility was good. After the fog lifted, the clouds cleared up, blue skies and sunshine! Now THIS is what we signed up for! We’ll take it. I haven’t seen this part of the world except covered in low clouds.

The sun is starting to peek out on this fisherman.

The cruise was fantastic until about the last hour and then it got sporty. The wind really picked up and so did the wave height. That’s usually the pattern. It’s calm in the morning and then breezy afternoons. If we were sailors, we’d love it. But, we are not, so that’s why we like to get underway super early. Today was 6:30 a.m.

Beautiful sparkly cruise

Jim picked up a cold somewhere and isn’t feeling so hot. In such close quarters, I’m sure I’m not far behind!

Just us and the bugs here at Klewnuggit

I know I’ve said it before, but with the sunshine comes the horseflies, which are unrelenting. It is a little too breezy for the thermacell (which works really well when not breezy), so we are swatting them like crazy. I doused myself in deet. They don’t seem to care 🙂

We enjoyed our peaceful afternoon soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the quiet. I did a lot of puttering in the kitchen, dinner is done and I have a loaf of bread ready to bake tomorrow morning.
