Turns out the stern thruster issue was just a loose connection. Whew. I know we would have been fine without them, just nice to have them in our back pocket when needed.
Once we are in Dodds Narrows, everything will be a new experience. We do feel like we have more to explore here in the Gulf Islands, but we have done them serious justice.
We watched everyone’s trip on Marine Traffic; they all arrived by 3pm. We have 2 Nordic Tugs, a Ranger Tug, 2 Sailboats, a Selene, a Meridian (joining us in Nanaimo), and maybe an Aspen (deducing from the photo) catching up with us after his prop is repaired.
It turns out that the pub bus had already been dusted off, and was running its regular schedule. We had 14 in our group. There was another group of girls wearing woven leaves of fresh greens on their heads that also had 14 in their group waiting for the bus. I am glad our trusty group leader had called ahead and made arrangements, as the pub bus driver could not take the other group, there were only 24 seats. It was called The Hummingbird for a reason! We sat in the garden and were treated to quite the hummingbird show. Our food was delicious. Highly recommend!
It is absolute glass this morning. We took a hike around Gray’s Point to get a little fresh air and exercise. It’s an easy mile loop. We are weighing anchor at 9:45 for a 10:00 departure. It is going to be a shortish cruise today: 28 nm and 5 hours. Here is a snip of the map I created for our route. I did not add the caution triangle at Dodds Narrows, it was already there.
Better get on with our day!
