Oct 9 – 15 We took a quick trip home and, of course, had to drive back to Anacortes via Oregon and go do some beach driving. We stayed at McMenamins in Gearhart. As per our norm, we had a fire on the beach and lots of beach driving. When we got back we contacted Cap Sante Marina to ask if they had any winter moorage available. They will get back to us next week.
Oct 16 – Rained all day so we took a drive on Whidbey. Oak Harbor is way bigger than I thought. If you need Asian groceries, this is the place to stop!
Oct 17 – Did some chores, took a walk. Tried a dwarf strawberry. (there are some interesting trees along our route, I looked it up and their fruit is edible.) Jim hooked up the weather station today.
Oct 18 – Gorgeous day, went for a walk, and did laundry. Tried unsuccessfully to Zoom for our small group. Played Farkle on the flybridge.
From left to right – our Oregon trip – fire on Jones Island – Our new digs
Oct 20 – Left for Jones Island. Was a nice cruise there. We had our pick of mooring balls because no one was there! We went to shore and had a fire and watched the sunset. Very peaceful.
Oct 21 – Took the East loop Jones Island hike. We saw a ton of mushrooms we wish we knew what they were. We are going to a mushroom festival this weekend, maybe we’ll find out. When we got to the north side of Jones Island, no one was there either. We have the whole island to ourselves!!
Oct 22 – We heard back from Cap Sante Marina and they do have a slip for us C60. So, now we are headed home for the winter. We only took two very short cruises all winter. We mainly moved the boat about every 10 days to go to the pump-out float. We did a lot of exploring, took a few trips home and now you are caught up on our first cruising season.
Talk Soon.
