Easter Weekend 2024

Mainly did chores on Saturday. After, sat on the bow of the boat in our cushy blue chairs. Within minutes, we realized it was too dang breezy to sit outside. We moved inside and played a game. This time change is killing me. I cannot seem to get dinner on the table before 6:45. We usually eat at 6.

After dinner, we took a walk on the Tod Inlet trail. I love taking walks after dinner. It feels so good! There are always folks on the beach here. We see the charm. It is a nice trail with a raging creek next to it. We were wondering where the foam would come from in this otherwise still water. Now we know.

Haha, this creek IS raging. Just doesn’t translate well to photo.

We watch a YouTube channel called Skookum. They are Canadian. In a recent video he talked about culturally modified trees, which are protected. We actually saw several of them on the Tod Inlet trail. They are sustainably harvested trees, wherein no more than 1/3 of the circumference of the tree is removed so the tree continues living. Indigenous peoples used the wood for shelters, canoes, etc.

Jim took a photo of the folks rafted up. One of the boats has a line from their stern to the shore and back to their boat. It is a common practice in Canada to stern tie, you can squeeze more boats in an anchorage if you aren’t swinging on the hook.

On Easter Sunday, we headed to Victoria on the 8:44 bus. Got off downtown near Starbucks. Something was off, and it was not really that good. Different beans? Milk? Disappointing!

Victoria is such a beautiful city in the spring. Trees and flowers blooming all over the place. And really clean! We walked to church. We both enjoyed the service. It was PACKED. Awesome.

We wanted to visit the Fisherman’s Wharf, so decided to go there for lunch. We walked there from church. Glorious sunny day. The wharf was teeming with people. We walked around, and then decided on a pizza place. We shared a pizza and enjoyed a beer in the sunshine.

We decided to meander back to the bus stop. A bus was there when we got there, we stepped on and we were off! 16K steps. It was a good way to end April. My average is really shot as far as steps go. It is a new month and I am going to make a lot more effort to get to shore and take a walk daily.

I’m looking forward to finding a place where you can have a campfire. The provincial parks do not allow them. We are all over the place where we are headed to next. The wind forecast both intensity and direction seems to change every time we look. Stay tuned. You’ll probably know when we do.

Gloriously sunny this morning, so should get on with the day.

Talk Soon.
