We spent a relaxing final day with Jim and Nancy. We wandered into town looking for coffee and pastries, a sunglass repair shop, and small olive oils for Nancy to bring home as gifts. Success! Nancy has a very funny (in retrospect) story to tell about how the said olive oils never actually made it to Missoula. You’ll probably have to buy her a (big) glass of wine so she can regale you with the tale.

Part of the group wandered down to the beach and Jim C. jumped into the water! Impressive! Nancy collected a lot of sea glass, and I’m looking forward to her creations!

Jim and I wandered around Vico Equense. We found a seafood restaurant with a FANTASTIC view. We made a dinner reservation. (not realizing there wouldn’t be such a thrilling view after dark) We whiled away the afternoon so sorry this would be our last day together.

Dinner turned out to be superb, although the view was indeed hidden. I wasn’t too sure about my dinner, I had two whole uncleaned prawns on top of my pasta. Yuck. Jim deftly took away the offending bits, after which, I thoroughly relished my dish. We enjoyed our stroll home soaking in the sea air and the lights from Naples. We turned in early, we’d need an early start to get everything packed up by checked out time. Poor Cristina, our host, we tried valiantly to follow the complex Italian recycling procedures but we never had a glass pick-up day.

We dropped Jim and Nancy off at the train station in Vico Equense. They successfully navigated the Circumvesuvian network and made it to the Trenitalia network in Naples. They had a lovely time in Rome, making the best of the pouring rain, and are safely back home.

Meanwhile, the rest of us headed off into the downpour. We are headed to Tuscany for 3 days at a Hilton Grand Vacations resort. The rest of the trip will be by car instead of train.
