Actually, make that 22

Wintering in Anacortes

Imagine my surprise when my countdown widget still said 25 days this morning. I mentioned it to Jim and he said that it doesn’t update until you click on it. Well, that seems like an inherent flaw; I lost 3 days. But not to worry cause this is all coming together! We knocked quite a few things off our list yesterday:

We were sitting inside the boat worrying and staring at the bilge waiting for “water to start emerging from the brine tube”
  • We fired up the watermaker – and it works! Yay!! 2 small things to button up and that is done. Well, I suppose it is who you ask if it is “2 small things”. Jim might say otherwise.
  • We heard back from the Davit dealer and we should have them by next week (phew)
  • Anchor chain is ordered and should be here soon
  • Someone here at the marina knew we were looking for a discontinued washdown connector and he happens to have one and will drop it by. Nice!
  • Stopped by the border patrol office to get our vessel decal and that is something you do online. Done.
  • I updated the blog section “Meet Miss Marlie” – next I want to figure out how to notify people when the site is updated.

Canada is not a third-world country; you might be wondering why add a watermaker, solar, and beef up the anchoring system. Our end goal is to head up to Alaska in June. You need to be pretty self-sufficient as that is some very remote cruising. We are going to explore the southern portion of the inside passage after we leave Washington for a couple of months. We signed up for a Waggoner Flotilla to Alaska headed up by Mike Beemer. The Flotilla leaves June 16th from Anacortes, Washington. Here is a link to the flotilla description if you are interested. https://waggonerguide.com/flotillas/ We’ll join up with them that evening in Montague Harbour, Canada. I created a map (mainly to familiarize myself with the route). I posted a link below:

There are some local YouTubers “Cruising Maya” that have taken almost the same trip as we are preparing for. (and I have actually met them.. Ooh, la la – haha). They did a fantastic job documenting their trip. In case you want to give it a look:

That’s it for today.

Talk soon.
