Subtitle: Quick get some green on before Hannah wakes up.
I looked up why the pinching on St. Patrick’s Day – leprechauns cannot see you if you wear green. Who knew? We do know Leprechauns are vicious when they pinch.
Usually, Project Atticus posts their videos on Saturday mornings, but not today. After Jim checked a project off his list, we headed off in the dinghy. Time to figure out the process of getting in and out so we look like we know what we are doing. Nope, that was not it. We’ll have to go back to the drawing board. I’m glad no one was watching. We have a few ideas for next time. Although, I do have to say that it was super easy to launch and retrieve. The Olsson davits were worth the price! With other davits, you have to take the motor on and off. Pretty soon, you’re like Do we really need to launch the dinghy? Can’t we just load both of us, our supplies, and the dog on the SUP to go to shore and have a fire?
Jim working on his morning project – cables finished for davits this project is done! – Jim singing an Irish Shanty about his terrible thirst – Heading out of the Harbor
We explored all the marinas in Tsehum Harbor (See um). After, we stopped to get some gas before we headed over to the Port of Sidney Marina. It was our first time and we violated every rule. When fueling up in the dinghy, the passengers have to get out. No electronics can be on. If the tank is removable, the tank needs to come out. The attendant was very nice explaining all the rules we just violated after we told her we had an electric motor prior and we had never done this before. It was $14.75 CAN for less than 3 gallons of gas.
We left the harbor and went over to the Port of Sidney Marina. We weren’t sure if they had a dinghy dock or not, so I called. No answer. We were in the area we imagined one would be. A few of the marina staff happened to be walking by and suggested a location we could tie up for a bit and even tied us up! Nice! So, I don’t think they have a dedicated dinghy dock, maybe courtesy docks when available. Bonus, it was even a location that was easy to get on and off. We went to the Surly Mermaid next door and had a drink and appetizers. We sat next to the hostess on the bus yesterday! Small world!! Wow, the food was delicious. We sat out on the patio. I also rediscovered an NA beer that I really like here it is made in Victoria at Phillips Brewing, “Iota”. What a gorgeous afternoon.
I’m glad that we went over there, as now we know the drill for our stay in June. It is always uneasy when going to a new marina, sure, you can study the map, but it is nice to get the lay of the land in person.
This flower is a Persian buttercup note how it looks like a rose from the top but the petals are stacked it is a stunning flower – the scene of the crime – so I can remember what NA beer I like 😛 – note to self: Jim wants a heavy sweater for Christmas
We headed home, not ready to go in, we sat up on the flybridge until we were just too cold. We were still pretty full from our afternoon apps, so we just had some snacks again for dinner, a couple of episodes on Hulu, and off to bed.
I found a church that is about a 20-minute walk from here. It starts at 10:30. We can watch our home church Anchor online but it is nice to go in person when you can. Plus, if it’s our cup of tea, maybe we can attend the Easter Service. While we won’t be at this marina, we plan on staying nearby until April.
I’ll close with an Irish Blessing in honor of the day: May you have the hindsight to know where you’ve been, The foresight to know where you are going, And the insight to know when you have gone too far.
