The big blow is here. Steady 25 with gusts. We are bobbing around like a cork. Safe and sound and toasty inside. We spent most of the day in Bellingham Saturday parts shopping, so we watched church online and stayed put Sunday. That’s fortunate because I didn’t sleep well, AND the clocks sprung forward. I would have a hard time getting anywhere on time.
I think the worst of it is over. On Saturday a 37-foot small craft had its windshield broken out from the waves and was taking on water in Rosario Strait. The ferry shielded the craft while the coast guard rescued the occupants and the 2 dogs. Jim and I saw some folks coming and going out of the marina, and we thought, are they out of their minds? Evidently, yes.
I defrosted the refrigerators. I want to get a good inventory of all of our foodstuffs so when we cross the border I haven’t left anything out to declare. I also want to study our route for Wednesday. Navionics doesn’t always suggest the best route. I think it is the most direct. Sometimes, Google Maps takes you a really stupid way and you are like, why?? I’m sure we all have stories like that. https://youtu.be/DOW_kPzY_JY?si=bI6dmHGwQY_3bQV0
We changed our Van Isle reservation to Wednesday, so we are all set once the weather breaks.
Left to right – very low tide – we took a ferry to Orcas Island and explored one day – I loved Anacortes’ town Christmas tree! – we have a lot of hidey holes to keep stuff in – heart-melting birthday wishes – if it fits, we send our packages to the local Amazon locker.
Jim is not feeling well. He either has a kidney stone or something very serious going on with his back. He is going to the walk-in clinic this morning. He is frustrated as the davits are slow going because he is in so much pain.
We’ll see what the doc has to say if we are actually leaving in two days. I’ll keep you posted.
Talk Soon.
Hope the weather clears and Jim feels better.
