I love Saturday mornings. We have a tradition of having a nice breakfast and watching Sailing Project Atticus. They are hands down my favorite YouTubers. So polished. And that baby though. Recently they did a 4-part series about their YouTube journey, so if you aren’t familiar, I’d recommend starting there. https://youtu.be/cbi_4AXwl2A?si=zq91s2K0OY4kPPHv
The wind is going to pick up soon – steady 25 with gusts of 43 for the next 24 hours. Those are in knots. If you want to know (roughly) the mph, multiply by 1.15. Yikes. Our first big blow here was over 54 knots and I couldn’t sleep. I got up and read in the middle of the night. I was worried sick. Our lines have been thoroughly tested all winter, so I have confidence we will stay put tonight. We also move them so they are not chafing in the same spot.
Or this happens. https://youtube.com/shorts/j1PxQuGBUoE?si=4j21Uwrqm6_o0Pgw
I’m sure it is not going to be a sound night of sleep, but I won’t be up reading 🙂 Our neighbor down the way takes a sleeping pill when there is going to be big blow. He said why be up worrying? Word.
Still looks like Wednesday is our best bet to head out. The marina lets you do a same-day checkout, they just need to know by 11 am for a noon checkout. We’ll be long gone before then.
It has been a whole year that we have owned Miss Marlie. We have gone from zero to sixty. The first night we’re sitting on the dock, marveling at how there are barnacles on the pole in our slip. How in the world did they get all the way up there, we wondered? We were positing all kinds of theories. The next morning, when the tide came in and the pole was now submerged, we laughed and laughed. Oh, we are on a floating dock. Not fixed. (imagine having to compensate with your lines!)
I’m going to go shopping today, we need some hardware for the davit installation (yes, ancora the davit installation) I shouldn’t do that, “ancora” is Italian for “still”. For those that don’t know, we lived in Italy for 3 years.
Well, enough of my yakking. Project Atticus is calling my name.
Talk Soon.
