Everyone in the flotilla stayed 3-5 days in Petersburg. We got together here and there for shared meals, discussions about when and where to next and a few games here and there. It was relaxing and what we all needed after the exhausting pace of getting here! Urban Cowboy was the first to leave at 9:15 Wednesday. Most of us should be gone by Friday.
We changed Sophie’s flight. She is flying into Petersburg on Thursday and then out of Juneau next week. We figured we will be down south for most of August, so why not head more north right now. We are going to take 4 days to get to Juneau and then spend some time exploring the town before Sophie flies back out.
Our one-week streak of sunshine and high temps is over. It is pouring rain – and the ten-day forecast calls for showers daily. If it’s anything like our experience coming north, the evenings are usually pretty nice and you wake up to rain again and start all over. Let’s hope that holds true!
The hot water tank pressure relief valve failed, we went through 100 gallons of water yesterday in a few hours. Jim is going to repair that and later we are going to do laundry. I thought you already did laundry? We schlepped all our laundry on both Tuesday and Wednesday to find the laundry closed! The hours posted on the door are 8 am – 8 pm. We saw all the washers and dryers going – they are doing laundry for cruise ships. Note: I think an asterisk on the laundry hours would go a long way – such as, “please call in advance to check if we are open to the public”. I asked when they would be open, she said 4pm. Hopefully, like Guy Fieri, we lose a bunch of weight due to our forced rucksacking.
If you are ever in this area, the Salty Pantry is a fantastic place to have breakfast! We also all really enjoyed our dinner at Inga’s!
We plan on leaving Thursday right after we pick up Sophie. Probably won’t hear from us until Friday.
Talk Soon.
We had breakfast at the Salty Pantry too! So good!
