Another perfect sunny morning. Mike and Clifton left early so they could take a picture of each boat with some sunshine in the background. We struck gold choosing this flotilla – we are truly sad to see it end.
Today we are transiting the Wrangell Narrows, the goal is to arrive at Petersburg near slack as the currents can make docking precarious. It was a fantastic cruise all day, we pretty much idled our way up. It was scenic and serene.
We didn’t meet any commercial traffic transiting the Narrows, and we enjoyed our leisurely day. Petersburg is stunning, the skyline is comprised of snow-packed craggy mountains and towering mountains loom all around us.
We walked over to the Harbormaster’s office. We are in the South Harbor. They hot berth here, so we are staying in someone’s slip while they are out fishing. The hospitality in the office put Van Isle to shame. And that is saying a lot cause we always got the best of care at Van Isle.
After we checked in, we all met up at Kito’s Kave for a few beers before we headed off for our evening plans. We ate dinner and headed over to Dancing Bear to play cards with Ray and Vince.
We met a truly lovely couple that bought their boat Amalia in Anacortes (I was wearing my Anacortes hat, which is a real conversation starter!) They put their boat on the hard last winter in Wrangell and were filling us in on the deets. I hope we run into them again! They also told us some of their favorite fishing spots.
We all signed up on Monday for a LeConte Glacier. It was an AMAZING trip. I wish I could post videos here, we got some great video of the glacier calving. We also saw a crazy jetski tour!
We are having our celebratory farewell dinner tonight at Inga’s.
Talk Soon.
