Guys! I wish I would have waited 10 more minutes to post the blog yesterday. Remember the marked floating hazard in the harbor yesterday? It floated right up to our boat and we got a picture! Wowza.
Yesterday was the smoothest cruise we have had in a very long time. It was complete glass all the way until Dodds. The winds must have been at our back. Now this is what we signed up for! We arrived about an hour early – since the current was with us we all went through. Again, with the right timing, it really was a non-issue.
Once we got through Dodds, we slowed waaay down for a ferry. We learn that you never win against them. Um. Except this one. He was going seven knots. Geez o Pete. It was fine though, we felt like we had already arrived and we were just taking in the sites.
We are at the upper limits for the mooring balls, plus we don’t like them banging into the boat while we sleep, so we put down our anchor in a crowded anchorage. We weren’t exactly in the spot we wanted, but we are getting better at gauging where we will end up.
We made pizza for dinner. We dinghied over to the marina to pick up our daily brief for our cruise today. After dinner, we went over to Newcastle Island and took a little stroll. It is a BC Provincial Park. What a fantastic spot. There are some docks, mooring balls, campsites, and lots of recreation trails to hike. Little boat taxis take folks back and forth nonstop. Well worth a stop here for easily a week.
Our cruise is a long one today. The lead boat has already left, it is 5:45 am. They are a sailboat and hope to get in a little sailing. They picked the wrong folks to go with, I am praying for no wind and flat seas. Our goal is 6:30.
These chores aren’t doing themselves!
Talk Soon.
That entrance to Montague marine park looks so dreamy :star-eyes:
