It’s been a bit. We have been busy! We flew into Missoula May 5th and pretty much hit the ground running and never stopped!

I have had two x-rays and my clavicle is healing nicely and will have a full recovery.
After about three weeks soaking up some time with family, we took a 4500 mile camping road trip – made our way down to Beachside, Oregon – up to Poulsbo for a Nordic Tug Rendezvous – and hit up a few National Parks – Glacier – Yellowstone – and the Grand Tetons.

We leased an apartment for a year -it will be nice to have a home base when we aren’t traveling. We’ll be the opposite of snow birds, whatever they are.
Good thing I haven’t kept up on the blog in the interim, as you would have whiplash from the amount of plans we made and changed and made again.

This is the final iteration that we are working on: we are getting our boat ready to head south, hoping to moor the boat for the winter in beautiful BC. We do have a backup plan in our pocket in case that does not work out.
We were pleasantly surprised by how well the dehumidifiers worked all winter, it was nice and dry. The exterior is going to need some elbow grease, but not bad for leaving her sitting for 9 months!

It has been raining nonstop since we arrived, no surprise there! We were originally going to come back in April, after talking to our neighbor, I am so glad we did not. He said it has pretty much rained every day and they didn’t even really have a spring. The current weather forecast shows rain for the next 10 days.
We have a lot to get ready for our trip south, get all our systems up and running and then haul out July 8th — pressure wash, inspection, minor touchups and back in the water. Update: July 4th. We have had nice break in the weather, but of course, it is supposed to POUR on Tuesday – haul out day.

Remember, we had planned on bringing a vehicle up here as Shoemaker is 5 miles out of town. That didn’t happen, so we will either take cabs or take our neighbor up on his offer to borrow his vehicle whenever we need it. I did discover that the Wrangell IGA delivers groceries to boats and residents, so that will be handy, if needed. We are going to do our major provisioning in Prince Rupert – because it will only take us 3 days tops to go from Wrangell to Prince Rupert (weather permitting).

Probably won’t check back in for a bit, as it will be pretty boring reading about all our preparations. I’ll check back in next week.
Most importantly, I have a fresh sourdough starter in the works and it should be ready about the time we start the trek south.

Talk Soon.
